Acne or otherwise known as pimples Is the most commonly encountered skin problem in both genders.85 % of adults has had acne issues and 15 % are severe cases.

It is a skin condition that starts during puberty and disappears in the early 20’s, in some cases acne presence is prolonged until the 40’s.

What is acne?

It is a skin condition caused by secretion of oils by the glands, which normally are eliminated to the skin surface, and with hormonal changes, the secretion is more and the oils cannot be released due to clogged pores, causing skin inflammation.

What does it look like?

Either they are infected oil accumulations with clogged pores known as black heads, or as bumps felt on the surface. When healed, these leave scars of the skin. The goal of acne treatment is to avoid scarring to occur as it is difficult to correct scar tissue. Acne is commonly on the face and back, where oil glands are denser.

As it may have side effects to the liver and can not be used during pregnancy, it Is nor preferred. Acne treatment needs patience and is cured

How can scars be treated?

Acne marks can be treated with laser or dermabrasion to remove the scarred surface of the skin. The new skin form 2 to 4 weeks after the treatment. This can be used when acne is is in its early stage as well. This is a very successful method.

Does tanning reduce acne? Usually, tanning reduced acne, but in some cases it has an opposite effect caused by sweating during tanning. As tanning is harmful to the collagen of the skin, and causes aging it should be done cautiously.

Do diets have affects on acne?  There is no scientific proof that food has an effect on acne, unlike popular belief, chocolate does not have a direct effect on acne.

Squeezing pimples? Having skin care does help acne control, but it must be done by professionals as squeezing them may cause the acne to penetrate to deeper levels of the skin. Over handling may cause scar tissue.

Does pregnancy affect acne? Although pregnancy does not affect acne conditions, there have been cases where acne has been affected in either way. Birth control pill does not have any effects of acne conditions.

Does make-up affect acne? As make-up contains oily ingredients, these can clog the pores, thus increasing acne. Make-up should be thoroughly removed
