Wrinkle treatment with laser

Wrinkles are tell-tales of our age caused by aging and sun damage. Environmental effects damages the upper layers of our skin and are the show case of our age. Thes damages, stains, discolorations, fine lines, loss of softness and humidity that occur to the upper layers of our skin shows itself by the loss of skin radiance. Laser treatments to these wrinkles are one of the solutions we offer our patients.

These fine lines that can be removed via laser treatment start around the age of 28 – 30 and deepen and progress with age.

Wrinkles, starts wit skin aging and with time lower skin layers of fat and muscle sags, empty themselves. Surface skin rejuvanations applied at an early age does require firming laser treatments, even face lifts at a further age.

Early laser wrinkle treatment

Laser wrinkle treatments have started about a decade ago with carbondiocside (CO2) and have been frequently used. The results were satisfying, yet the recuparation time was long and distressful to the patients. The rednesses that occured could take upto 6 to 8 months to dissapear.

Today, the ERBIUM lasers used are much stronger anda re a newer technology with successful results. The use of ERBIUM lasers is increasing as the post treatment recuperation time is shorter, less painful, and most importantly, results are much beter.

Basically our skin consists of two layers. The epidermice is the surafce layer, which is quite thin. Fine lines and sun damage occurs to this layer, as well as skin stains and marks.

The dermice has many occurances, and the most important ones are here. Sweat cells, fat cells, collagen fibers, and color pigmentations are are housed in this layer. Some acne marks can reach this layer, as does some marks and post pregnancy stains.

Erbium lasers are efficient to all layers of skin, meaning the chosen functions can be applied with great safety for the treatments of facial wrinkles, acne and pimple marks, operation or traumatic marks, and skin stains.

The effects of the skins upper layer
With controled pealing of the upper layer of the skin, aged and wrinkled surface is removed to leave a fresh and smooth layer of skin to be exposed.

It is known that all wrinkles can be treated, but it is more so in the removal of sun damage around the eyes and mouth.

Acne and pimple marks along with operative marks can be removed, but deep marks (endentations) are corrected to a high level, if they cannot be removed fully. Many of the surface aging marksa re treated easily.

The result of this proceedure does not create the same tensity as a full face lift. But as the skin is rejuvanated it will appear young and dynamic.

It does not fully correct the eye and mouth area, but has very successful results, therefore it is prequeantly used as a complimentary proceedure to full face lifts.

Sedation, local or general anesthesia is used during technological plastic surgeries, such as laser applications to wrinkle treatments to ensure the comfort of the patient. As the treatment can be made with a simple cooling method, it does not require a high level of anesthesia.

The recuparation period posr a technological plastic surgery such as laser applications is painless. The treated area is covered with bandages and the recuparation time varies from 7 to 10 days, it is observed that the treated areas have a pinkish coloration. During this time, the skin is extremely sensitive to sun light and it is highly recommended to use sun blocks. It is also possbile to cover the coloration with make-up. This coloration will vanish generally within one month. It is observed that lines dissapear in full or very obviously, even skin color and surface does look younger.

The effects of Er-YAG laser on both layers of the skin.

In cases where the renewal of the upper layer is not sufficient, it is needed to tighten and renew the lower layers of the skin. ERBIUM lasers are used as well, but with a difference. The laser rays are fractionised to a different density, by dividing them to smaller parts, to ensure deeper penetration. Fractional lasers are a Er-YAG laser. The Er-YAG laser  is absorbed by the upper layer of the skin and is a very dlicate method to peel the skin.Fractional lasers are equipment that are capable to send numerous micronic rays to a 1,3 cm square area. The emited Er-YAG rays penetrate the upper and lower layers of the skin. These small penetrations heal the same way as other distruption on the body, by contracting. This does not require any bandages to the surface, yet heals by firming, lines and cracks to disappear, pimple crates, surgery and other marks to diminish.

During the proceedure, light stinging does ocur, post proceedure redness and sensitivity is observed. The sensitivity is controled with the assistance of numbing creams, and is completely eliminated within 7 to 10 hours. Redness occurs immediately after the proceedure and dissapears 24 to 48 hours later. After 48 hours, very slight peels will be visible, and these will last 24 to 48 hours. The day of the proceedure and the day following, there will be redness, the 3rd and 4th day peelings, therefore the patients will be able to return to their normal lives on the 4th day.

During these four days, it is recommended to use the creams suggested to speed the recovery process. The proceedure can be repeated 3 to 6 times, with three week intervals.
