Under eye discoloration and its treatment
The discoloration under the eyes are predominantly genetic, meaning the parents of the patient had the same issue. It is predominantly observed at darker skin colors. This occurs when the veins around the eyes that are closer to the skin surface, or fat cell concentrations around the eyes causes blood flow defects
Furthermore, excess pigmentation is a frequent cause, it is not limited to the under eye, as it is visible from the brows to the eye lashes as well. Environmental effects, along with stress, tiredness, sleeplessness, smoking, alcohol consumption increases the discoloration.
The correction level varies from patient to patient, yet it is possible to achieve a desired look with proper treatment. The use of related cosmetics can minimize the discoloration, but will not correct in full. Not to tire the eyes or to frequently rest the eyes can be a precaution.
Cosmetics such as creams and lotions does not truely help the discolorations.
Thes most efficient treatment method is with laser or a simple operation, based on the patient’s case, either one of the methods is chosen or both can be applied simultaniously for a full correction. During this proceedure, the under eye fat cells may be redistributed for an even appearance.
Recovery takes from 5 to 7 days, for those only laser treatment is chosen, repeat proceedures may be applied. During the treatment period, the patient must stay out of sun light.
